St. Charles Business Briefs: April 5, 2004

Summary

Royal arrival: Royal Canin USA will relocate its headquarters from St. Peters to Fountain Lakes Commerce Center in St. Charles. The premium pet food manufacturer will lease almost 13,000 square feet of the 55,000-square-foot building located at 500 Fountain Lakes Blvd., said Gundaker Commercial Group sales associate David Steinbach, who represents Royal Canin in the deal. The building is owned by Scannell Properties out of Indianapolis. The office space in Fountain Lakes is almost triple what Royal Canin currently has at 5600 Mexico Road in St. Peters, Steinbach said. He said he didn't know if the company planned to expand its operations here.

An employee at Royal Canin's headquarters in St. Peters said Friday that company managers were attending a meeting at Royal Canin's manufacturing plant in Rolla, Mo., and were not available for comment. Mars, the giant candy company, last year purchased French-based Royal Canin for approximately $1.3 billion.
