The strike last week by the United Auto Workers against General Motors didn't last long enough to have any kind of negative economic impact in Wentzville, where the automaker produces two types of vans.

Even if the strike had been a prolonged one, Wentzville is in a better position now to cope with its effect, said Robert L. Swank, the city's economic development director. He said the city's economy has diversified in recent years.
