Armed with temporary fixes and vague assurances, local pools have reopened or are staying open in face of new federal law intended to prevent drain suction from trapping children under water at public pools and spas.
The Virginia Graeme Baker Pools and Spa Safety Act requires the installation of pool drain covers and specialized suction devices at all pools and spa facilities used by the public, including those in municipalities, hotels, private clubs, apartment buildings and community centers.See the full content of this document
