Summary


Founded in 1993 in response to a need for cross-cultural training, Global Vision Strategies assists corporations in establishing a presence in foreign countries. Clients include The Boeing Co. and MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. Linda Jacobsen, founder and president of Global Vision Strategies, holds a bachelor's degree in English from Iowa State University and a master's degree in bilingual education from Georgetown University. In 2000, the U.S. Small Business Administration honored her as Exporter of the Year, and she has been recognized by Working Woman magazine for entrepreneurial excellence in the field of social responsibility. Most recently, Jacobsen, a Democrat, attempted to oust incumbent U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof in the Ninth District. A mother of three, she is married to Kevin, an engineer with Boeing, and they live near Cottleville. Personal interests include horseback riding, scuba diving, reading and gardening.

You now preside over a company which helps people become acclimated to working in foreign countries. Where did the idea for that come from?

When I was overseas and just seeing people around me fail, seeing them get frustrated over things that could be solved and, as an educator, seeing that it was teachable to people with the right attitude.
