Tuesday came and went without any fanfare. It was Election Day in Missouri, and low voter turnout was expected to leave the uninvolved and the politically connected both asking, Who cares?

There were no statewide issues to help highlight local school board, city council or tax issues. First Lady Laura Bush might have been in St. Charles and St. Louis for special appearances, but that was the closest any national subject came to being acknowledged by voters this week.
